You have decided you want to be a stay at home mom. Great! Now let the 6 Month Stay At Home Mom Plan show you if you can afford it.
The Moms Stay At Home 6 Month Stay At Home Mom Plan helps you to make that decision without quitting your day job. You simply continue to work but you don’t spend your pay-cheque. That’s right. You read right.
Put your pay cheque into a high interest-earning savings account and don’t touch it. See if you can live off just the one pay cheque.
There is a method to my madness – trust me! ;-)
Here’s the Moms Stay At Home 6 Month Stay At Home Mom Plan…
Create a budget (more on this in the Budgeting section) based on one income and stick to it for six months. Tweak you budget as you need to so that it’s comfortable and doable. All the while saving your pay cheque in a high interest earning savings account. At the end of six months if you stuck to your budget and didn’t have to dip into your high interest earning savings account – congrats! You are on your way to becoming one of the Moms that Stay At Home (SAHM).
Now of course, the above scenario is in a perfect world. Sorry to burst your bubble.
You probably will have to lower your expectations. You won’t be able to afford Take-Out or dinners out so often. You may have to purchase things second-hand. You’ll probably find yourself purchasing generic brands at the grocery store. And you may not take that yearly vacation to the Anguilla.
However, as quickly as I just burst your balloon, please allow me to blow it back up again…
The Moms Stay At Home 6 Month Stay At Home Plan allows you to have your cake and eat it too!
The 6 Month Stay At Home Mom Plan allows you to still have take-out or dinners out! You can purchase things new! Your can purchase name-brand items at the grocery store! You can still vacation yearly to a warm climate!
You simply have to plan for it, budget for it.
And that is really what being a stay at home mom is all about. You are the manager. You set the rules, the limits, the schedule. You divvy up the bacon as required.
And by divvying up the bacon, I don’t mean putting purchases on your credit cards. Sorry. You should really try not using your credit cards for the next six months unless you have to for reservations and the like. Why? Because credit cards give you a false sense of what something is worth. You’re not actually forking over the cash; you’re just signing a slip. You don’t actually see your had earned cash leaving your person, so you figure ‘oh well…’.
Debt is enemy No.1!
Don’t get into it. If you’re already there,
get out of it.
And by debt I mean credit cards, department store cards, etc. A mortgage, car payments
or life insurance policy payments
are 'good' debts.
